Northern Safari Circuit
Northern Circuit – The Classic Safari Experience
The Northern Circuit is Tanzania’s most popular safari route, featuring some of Africa’s most famous national parks. It is ideal for first-time safari-goers and those seeking a traditional wildlife experience. The parks in this circuit include:
- Serengeti National Park – Home to the Great Migration, where over two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move across the plains. Serengeti also boasts excellent predator sightings, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
- Ngorongoro Crater – A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best places to see the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino) in a single game drive. The crater’s enclosed ecosystem provides a rich concentration of wildlife.
- Tarangire National Park – Known for its large elephant herds, unique baobab trees, and seasonal wildlife migrations. This park is also excellent for birdwatching.
- Lake Manyara National Park – Famous for its tree-climbing lions and large flamingo populations along the soda lake. The park has a mix of forest, grassland, and wetland ecosystems.
- Mount Kilimanjaro National Park – Africa’s highest peak and a dream destination for hikers. While primarily known for trekking, the lower slopes are home to diverse wildlife.
The Northern Circuit is well-developed with a range of lodges and tented camps, making it an excellent choice for both luxury and budget travelers.
