This paradise island offers a way much more diving, fishing and snorkeling activities than the mainland. You can get there by plane which takes forty five minutes from Dar es Salaam and approximately one hour from the Selous or from Zanzibar. There are connections to Selous, Ruaha, Pemba, Arusha every day

Professional fishing for all species, together with fly fishing, is now offered at Lua Cheia. Species you can find here are horse mackeral, sailfish, wahoo, kingfish, giant trevally, barracuda, tuna and so on. The billfish season in Mafia runs from December to March, though the main fishing season lasts from August to March. If you are a sport fishermen, follow the tradition of Ernest Hemingway and do not miss this wonderful piece of heaven.
